The highlight of your Copper Canyon Train Adventure is a series of 9 major canyons that are longer and deeper than the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Day 1: Welcome to Chihuahua

Upon arrival in Chihuahua you will experience a private City Tour of Chihuahua City. Some of the highlights include visiting the home of infamous Pancho Villa, the picturesque State Capital Building with its beautiful Murals that describing Mexico’s vast History. You will then visit the principal Church of Town of the town before checking in to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure to relax and prepare for the next day’s adventures.

Day 2: Your Train Adventure Begins

It’s an early morning start to this historic train journey as you are transferred to the Chihuahua Train Station. Enjoy a delicious breakfast on board while en route to Creel. Take an interesting sightseeing tour of Creel and the surrounding areas. You will be mesmerized by the lands of the Tarahumara Indians. Sights include the famous Rock Cave, the Jesuit Mission Church of San Ignacio, Arareko Lake and the Valley of Mushrooms, and the intriguing Frog´s Rock formations.

Day 3: The Unbelievable Copper Canyon

After breakfast, you have some leisure time to explore before embarking on what will surely be the highlight of your trip – your first view of the famous Copper Canyon! Upon arrival, you will have lunch. Then the entire afternoon to explore the area on your own.

When Spanish people arrived in the Copper Canyon in the 17th century, they encountered the indigenous locals and called them Tarahumara. This was derived from the word Rarámuri which is what the indigenous people call themselves.

Day 4: Copper Canyon Private Tour

After breakfast, enjoy a private tour to different sites of the Canyon and the small towns of Bahuichivo and Cerocahui. Highlights include the Suspension Bridge, Crystal Floor Miradors and the Balancing Rock. You will also experience an authentic tram ride as part of the tour. After an early lunch at the hotel, return to the railroad station. It’s a relatively short journey to the main town of the area, Creel. You will be met at the station upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. You have the afternoon to visit the town and surrounding area.

Day 5: Canyon and Mountains

Today you will experience quintessential Copper Canyon at its best. After breakfast, take a private tour to Cerro Gallegos Overlook to enjoy the stunning scenery. You’ll visit the Tarahumara land of San Ignacio and have a magnificent view of Urique Canyon.

Upon departing on the train once again, continue your journey to Los Mochis. This portion of the Sierra Madre mountain journey is the most spectacular as the train winds its way through 86 tunnels and 37 bridges before arriving at Los Mochis.

Day 6: Extend your time in Mexico

After breakfast, transfer back to Chihuahua for your flight home OR you can extend your time in Mexico.
